Institutional Excellence

The Defenders Coalition works to consolidate its position as a dynamic, effective, efficient, and sustainable organization within the human rights protection ecosystem. Key focus areas include enhancing internal policy environment, strengthening systems, improving internal governance, promoting self-reliance, diversifying income sources and investing in the well-being and capacity building of its members.

Management and Governance

The Coalition’s structure includes key bodies: the General Assembly, the Board of Trustees, and the Secretariat. The General Assembly, consisting of all registered members, is the highest decision-making body. A reference group of elected geographical and thematic focal points supports client-focused program development and implementation. The Board of Trustees provides policy direction, while the Secretariat, led by the Executive Director, is responsible for implementing policies and managing day-to-day operations.
